4.1 I Flight Operations and Flight Dispatchers
This course is designed for personnel responsible for the flight operations and dispatchers. It will provide them with the knowledge and skills required to be able to identify the nine different classes of Dangerous Goods, its hazard and handling labels, packaging specification marks on the package and potential hidden Dangerous Goods in general cargo.
Special loading requirements, information required on the Notification to Captain (NOTOC) and emergency response will also be covered during this training.

Who needs GCAA 4.1.I training?
Personnel responsible for flight operations and flight dispatch. That includes flight dispatchers, flight operations officers and operations control centre staff who plan flights, produce operational documentation and support the crew before and during a flight.
How long is the 4.1.I course?
Initial training runs 1 day, delivered at the DGR Aviation training centre in Port Saeed, Dubai, or in-house for operations control centres that need to keep desks covered.
Why do flight dispatchers need dangerous goods training?
Because dispatch decisions interact with dangerous goods at several points: route and alternate planning where carriage restrictions apply, coordination with load control on what is on board, ensuring the crew receive accurate notification, and supporting the response when an incident involving dangerous goods occurs in flight.
What is the difference between 4.1.I and 4.1.G?
4.1.G is for personnel planning the aircraft loading, meaning load controllers and ground dispatchers who build the load plan. 4.1.I is for flight operations and flight dispatch personnel who plan and support the flight operations. The functions are adjacent and the certificates are separate.
Does the course cover state and operator variations?
Operator and state variations affect what may be carried on a given route, which is directly relevant to dispatch. Bring your network and typical DG traffic to the session so the instructor can work through the variations that apply to your operation.
Does this apply to operations control staff at a no-carry operator?
Dangerous goods still travel on aircraft operated by no-carry operators through passenger baggage, company materials and aircraft equipment. Confirm your specific function requirement with your compliance lead, and DGR Aviation can map roles in your operations to the correct category.
How long is the certificate valid?
All dangerous goods training certifications are valid for two years. Book recurrent training before that date, or align it with your operator’s recurrent cycle for operations personnel.
