About the Program - Radioactive Material Shipping(Air Cargo) Training

If you are handling and processing radioactive materials for air transportation, this course will provide you with all the required skills and knowledge required for you to be able to handle the radioactive material consignment.

What You Will Learn:

  • Your legal responsibilities on the regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation and Nuclear Agency authorities for the safe transport of radioactive material by air
  • Navigate Section 10 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations on how to correctly process the radioactive material for air transport.

 

Initial Training 

  • 2 days (16 hours)

Recurrent Training

  • 2 days (16 hours)

Personnel responsible to prepare radioactive materials for air transport. 

After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the national and international legal framework on the air transport of radioactivematerials.
  • Understand the specific responsibilities of the shipper and operator.
  • Know how to apply the regulations to transport radioactive materials.
  • Purpose and the legal framework on why there is a need for radioactive material regulations
  • Mandatory Training Requirements
  • Radioactive Material Classification, Identification, Packing, Marking, Labelling and Documentation Requirements.

Current year IATA DG Regulations Manual and the UAE Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR) Part VI Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air

(DGR Aviation will provide these for the duration of the  training)

Simulation exercises on the different types of radioactive materials. Participants will progressively apply their knowledge and skills to prepare and accept the different types of radioactive materials. Final assessment (theory and practical) on last day of class to assess participant’s knowledge, skills and attitude on the application of the Regulations.

  • A Certificate will be issued upon the successful completion of the course.
  • Certificate is valid for two years.
